Get Ready to Work the Right Way

Thinking about a holiday job? In this free on-demand workshop from the Delaware Department of Labor, teen host KJ follows six young workers through real on-the-job situations. You’ll see how Delaware’s child labor laws protect you. The video opens with a welcome from U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester.

What you’ll learn

  • Work permits. Who needs one, what to bring, and why each new job needs its own.
  • Work hours. Time limits and required breaks by age, even during the holiday rush.
  • Off-limits tasks. Jobs and equipment teens can’t use, even when a supervisor asks.
  • Tips and pay. Why tips can never leave you below the wage you’re owed.
  • Red flags. How to spot a scam job ad before you share your information.

Who it’s for: Teens ages 14 to 17, plus the parents, educators and employers who support them.
