What is a stop-work order and when is it issued?

A stop-work order is an official order requiring an employer to halt operations until they obtain proper Workers’ Compensation insurance. It is issued when an employer continues to operate without required coverage or fails to correct violations. The order remains in effect until the state confirms the employer is compliant.
