What is a service letter, and when must employers request one?

A service letter is a written statement from a previous employer that explains a former employee’s job title, dates of employment, and eligibility for rehire. Delaware requires certain employers, especially healthcare, childcare, and youth-serving organizations, to request a service letter before hiring someone for a position of trust or responsibility.
